Though we try our best to schedule your appointment as quickly and conveniently as possible for you during our busy season (September to January), we encourage our repeat and new customers to consider scheduling cleanings during the spring and summer months if possible.

24 Hours Before Your Appointment, Remember To

Stop using your fireplace, woodstove, or gas stove. We need to work with an appliance that is completely cool. Please have a noncombustible container to put ashes in. Cancel or reschedule your appointment if necessary. We charge a service fee for missed appointments or appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice.

Will cleaning my chimney get dust in my house?

No. We use a powerful vacuum that controls the dust, and we guarantee no dust.

What does a chimney cleaning consist of?

We clean the entire system from the firebox up, which includes the smoke shelf, smoke chamber, and flue. We then check for any visible problems.

How often should I have my chimney cleaned?

When you burn a cord of wood, you should have your chimney checked or cleaned.

Should I have my gas- or oil-fired chimney cleaned?

Yes. An oil furnace creates soot as a byproduct of combustion, and a buildup of soot can cause deterioration that can cause a puff back throughout your home. A gas furnace or appliance can cause deterioration inside the chimney, where debris can block the escape of deadly carbon monoxide.

Why does an unlined stove insert cost more?

An unlined stove insert that is not lined with an approved stainless steel liner must be removed from the fire box to clean the system properly; they require the use the use of a lift or mechanical device to remove it.

How long does a chimney cleaning take?

Normal cleaning can take anywhere from a half-hour to an hour, depending on the type of chimney and its construction.

What is a flue?

A flue is a passageway inside your chimney that vents the gasses and smoke out of your house. Chimneys can have several flues in them.

How many flues do I have?

You should have a separate flue for each appliance: each fireplace, stove, and furnace or boiler.

Do I need a chimney cap?

All chimneys should have caps to prevent leaves, sticks, debris, animals, birds, and most importantly, rain and snow from entering the chimney flue. Water and snow entering the chimney can cause damage to the firebox and damper and general deterioration of the mortar and bricks.
